US Divers 1953 - 57 Tank Valve Fat O-Ring Teflon Replacement
US Divers Aqua Valve Replacement Seal
In the 1953 catalog until 1955 there was a "Teflon Washer" as a seal for the valve to regulator and it was listed alphabetically as letter "Z" . Then in 1956 there was a change to letter ZA and it was listed as an "O-Ring" . Next was a change in 1957 to letter ZO where they offered an O-Ring Adaptor.
In 1959 the catalog changed to numbers; 0501-01 "Teflon", 0501-02 "O-Ring", and 0501-03 "O-ring Adaptor" . Then again it changed to the universal fat o-ring 8201-12 which was the standard until the 80's when they got rid of the fat 60's O-Ring and today the standard scuba tank O-Ring is #014.
Basically this is all historical but what is important is that you find the right seal for the 1953 - 1957 valves that have a large flat orifice. And please note that this is NOT the 60's #8201-12 but a much fatter and flatter disc seal.
- Z - original Teflon washer - got rid of for good reason as it was PIA to get a good seal ( 1 pc )
- I do Not recommend these for diving, but display only. While these are original New Old Stock and work as intended, remember that the original yoke had a hex nut that you tighten with a wrench. To tighten adequately you will stress a vintage yoke.
- ZA - honestly I don't know? I do not have an actual image of what this o-ring was?
- ZO - I believe the rubber rings that have a cupped inside are this O-ring Adaptor? any expert out there please let me know
- ZO23 - new compound flat rubber disc that fits the groove, and gives the diver a quality seal ( 2pc )
These are sold in ( 2 pc ) set as they are very-very durable and you really should not need them very often? If one falls out, then you have a replacement.
*Ok, yes they do resemble a black olive slice, but I encourage you to NOT use olive slices as they are not the correct hardness for sealing surface....
